You are able to claim back part of your consultation fee in the following ways:
Health Fund Rebates
Most health funds provide rebates for psychological services.
This depends on the type/level of cover you have.
HCF provides cover for psychological services once medicare sessions have been exhausted and depending on the level of cover you have.
Please check with your health fund to see if you are eligible for psychological services rebates.
Medicare
Medicare provides rebates for psychological services for people with certain psychological conditions for up to 20 sessions per calendar year.
You need a GP referral (mental health care plan) in order to claim for psychological services through Medicare. The current rebate is $128.40.
You cannot claim Private Health rebates and Medicare rebates at the same time. You will need to chose which rebate system is best for you and/or that you are eligible for.
Cancellation Policy
Your appointment is set aside specifically for you.
If your appointment is forgotten, not attended or cancelled at the last moment, it is impossible for someone to use your time and a cancellation fee applies. The cancellation policy for appointments that are cancelled without 48 business hours’ notice and the full fee is payable.
Please note that neither Medicare nor Private Health Funds provide rebates for cancellation fee.
